Project Overview

Title of Project: “Fins Up Aquatics”

Background: 

I am very passionate about swimming and I love teaching little kids. I have been in the water since I was a baby swimming for my first time in Lake Powell. At eight years old, I joined the local swim team where I went to competitions all over Utah. I swam on the team until I was I was 14. In high school, I life-guarded and taught swimming lessons. I worked at two different pools for four years. I am certified through the Redcross in swim safety, swim instruction, and CPR.

For my project, I wanted to create my own summer business. I have had several parents ask me if I teach private lessons in the past. I decided to take this need and fill it. In the past, I have done a few random private lessons when I had time. This year, I wanted to be much more organized and prepared. I arranged times with my manager to where I had the pool to myself at certain time so I could teach lessons. I taught water safety and instruction. I had a safe and successful experience teaching this summer. I worked with each child for four sessions and each session was a half hour long.

For My EDGE project, I created a private swimming lesson business.
